Privacy
We think consent should be designed in rather than asked for afterwards, so this page tries to be readable rather than defensive. Version 1, 8 October 2026.
Who we are
DEPARTMNT LABS UK LTD, company number 16465558, registered in England and Wales at 71 to 75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ. For anything on this page, write to hello@departmnt.xyz.
For this website we are the controller. For most of what we do beyond it we are the processor, not the controller: when a brand runs an activation on our platform, that brand is the controller of the records it collects and we process them under contract on its behalf. The brand owns its data.
What this site collects
This site is a marketing site. It sets no advertising cookies. A cookie choice appears only when an analytics or marketing tag is switched on, and those tags load only after you say yes. While none is switched on there is nothing to ask, so no choice is shown. When you make a choice, it is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and you can change it from the footer.
- Analytics. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless and aggregate: we can see that a page was
read, not who read it. Google Analytics runs only if you accept it in the cookie choice; it
then sets the cookies
_gaand_ga_followed by our measurement id, to count visits and returning visitors, with your IP address anonymised. - Forms. If you send us a brief or write to us, we hold your name, email, company and what you tell us, to reply to you and to scope the work, and for no other purpose. A brief is delivered to our inbox by email through Resend.
- No third party trackers. No advertising pixels, no data brokers, no profiles built from your visit.
Type on this site is served by Adobe Fonts, which receives a request from your browser in order to deliver the files. Adobe sets no cookie for this.
Why we may use it
- Replying to you and scoping work: our legitimate interest in answering the person who asked, and taking steps towards a contract you asked about.
- Google Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from the footer.
- Cookieless analytics: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read, without knowing who read them.
Who helps us
Vercel (hosting and cookieless analytics), Adobe Fonts (type), Resend (delivering briefs by email), Google Workspace (our email) and Google Analytics (only with your consent). Each processes data on our behalf under its own data processing terms. Where one of them handles data outside the UK, it does so under the UK's international data transfer safeguards.
What a tap records
This is the part people actually want to know.
A tap records that a tap happened: which tag, when, and the category of device. It is a record of presence, not of a person. Nothing about a tap identifies you on its own.
If you choose to create an account or give an email address, that is a deliberate act and the record becomes yours as well as the brand's. You can ask for it, and you can ask for it to be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to restrict it, or object to it being processed. Write to hello@departmnt.xyz and we will reply within one month. Where a brand is the controller we will pass your request on and support it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first.
How long we keep it
- Briefs and emails: for two years after our last contact, unless they become part of a contract, which we keep for six years after it ends.
- Google Analytics: fourteen months.
- The cookie choice: in your browser until you change it or clear it.
Changes
We will date any material change to this page rather than revising it quietly.
