The brief
The second chapter of G-SHOCK’s collaboration with Unusual Running. Five artists interpreted the Active Lifestyle Series. Who Eats Art took the G-SQUAD and asked what measuring performance looks like when the sensor is a room full of people rather than a wrist.
Spray. Bite. Log. Share.
Eleven tags in one artwork
All in the mobile browser. A visitor sprayed a cookie, ate it, then tapped the piece to log the moment.
A record of every bite
Name, handle and time recorded against the tap, and a shareable image made for each entry.
A work that exists twice
The canvas kept the physical marks. The platform kept everyone who made one.
What we learned
We assumed the artwork would spread attention across all eleven tags. It did not. Three placements produced 70% of participants and one produced none. The technology was identical at every point; what varied was whether a person could see the tag and reach it. Put the tags where people already are, at the height a hand naturally goes.
The result
92% of everyone who tapped completed the journey. 39% shared to social, unprompted. 80% of participants arrived on the one Saturday of the live activation. Credited by Casio as TapTech powered by DEPARTMNT on G-SHOCK Singapore’s own site.
